You will have to pay out-of-pocket for all non-emergency medical visits, so always bring money (cash, not card) when you visit a doctor or mental health practitioner.
Most medical visits and prescription medication are reimbursed fully by CISI after the one-time 100 dollar deductible.
Important: You will only be reimbursed once you have spent 100 dollars in doctors’ bills (100 $ annual deductible).
Depending on the claim, it can take up to 3-4 weeks to get a reimbursement claim processed. If the claim is missing information or if it is a claim for multiple illnesses or injuries, the claim process can take longer. You have up to 1 year from the date of service to file a reimbursement claim, but we prefer that you file it within a few days of your visit so that you don’t forget. If you do not submit the claim within this period, you will not be reimbursed and will be responsible for payment to the provider.
Doctor/hospital visits in countries outside of Austria are covered as well. This is important to know if you are sick while traveling.
What do I need to do in order to get reimbursed?
Fill out a CISI claim form (linked at the top of this page), attach all receipts for medical treatment and medication, then email a scanned copy to claimhelp@mycisi.com
Because you will pay for each non-emergency visit, please check the YES box next to the question “Have these doctor/hospital bills been paid for you?” and the NO box for “I authorize payment to provider of service for medical services claimed.”
If the doctor prescribed you medication, you only need to submit one claim form for the doctors’ visit and prescription medication; most prescription medication is covered by CISI.
After the claim has been processed, CISI will send a check to your home address within 3-4 weeks.
If you don’t want the check to be sent to your home address, you can put down an alternative US address on the claim form.
