Welcome!

It gives us great pleasure to welcome you to IES Abroad Vienna! This is your time to squeeze the juice out of everything your experience in Vienna and abroad has to offer. We look forward to hearing about your many adventures along the way.

Vienna, a fascinating city of 1.9 million people, lies in the middle of Europe. Some would even say it is the cultural heart of Europe, preserving the best of its rich history and culture while opening itself to challenges both as the capital of a European Union member state and an important gateway to Central and Eastern Europe. Traditionally considered to be reserved and conservative in nature, the reality of modern Viennese culture reflects an openness and appreciation of the multi-cultural makeup of a modern metropolis.

At IES Abroad Vienna we offer 60 courses per semester in business, psychology, music, art history, film, finance, literature, history … the list goes on and on. We also give you the chance to interact with Austrian culture and get professional experience with internships in business, arts and culture, public service, and teaching. You can choose from a wide range of IES-run activities in and around Vienna, including trips to nearby provinces and countries. We have Student Affairs Assistants to help you with the practical stuff, German Language Buddies to brush up on your language skills, and a dedicated team of staff members to help you with everything from getting ball tickets to emergency assistance 24/7.

We are located in a beautiful palace in downtown Vienna. Our facilities include a study room, a student lounge, classrooms, and a concert hall and practice rooms for musicians. You, too, will be housed in style, with apartments near the center that are fully equipped with kitchen facilities, living area, and wifi.

Congratulations on choosing to come to Vienna. We look forward to helping you make the most of your semester!
